Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

My girlfriend is on welfare, and we just had a 3 month old child together. She told the welfare office that she didn't want any financial support or aid for our kid. But the child support office of Los Angeles county wants to collect child support from me. But the welfare office stated that I didn't have to pay child support if our kid. Now I have a court order to pay up. What our my options, and why did the welfare office lie to me?

Re: Child Support

All parents have an obligation to support their children. The county will always seek reimbursement from the non-custodial parent for welfare paid to the custodial parent. You need to address the issue immediately before you end up with literally thousands of dollars in arrearages.
