Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

My husband is unemployed and has no assets. I have been assisting him in paying child support. We have a joint checking account. Is it possible for my income or my personal assets to be attached if he fails to meet his child support responsiblities?

Re: Child Support

Any money deposited into a joint bank account on which he is one of the account holders, can be attached for child support. You should keep your money in a separate bank account. Also your husband should consider filing a motion to reduce his child support payments. If he will be unemployeed for a lengthy period of time making this motion is worthwhile.
