Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support

I live in Texas and my ex-husband relocated to california a year ago. I have custody of my children but we modified our divorce decree because my sons moved with him temporaily until I was in a position to relocate to california. I was a stay home mom for 20 years with no job experience.

My sons are 19 and 13. my 13 year old wants to be with me badly and I was thinking of moving him back to Texas but I wouldn't be able to raise him all alone with out the support of his dad, since I am trying to make a living. My ex transfred to california for a better job and a lot more money,

My question is do I need to see a lawyer to change out divorce decree being that we will be in California and his income is a lot more then 2 1/2 years ago when we got a divorce in Texas.?

Re: child support

Yes, you should hire a lawyer.

You will need to file a modification suit in the court that entered the last order. That suit should ask the court to change the child support obligations, posssession orders, etc. - whatever that should be different due to the change in circumstances.
