Legal Question in Family Law in California

How much child support is too much

I have lived with the mother of my children for 3 yrs. We are spliting up and she wants child support, which I have no problem with. We are trying to negotiate out of court and have agreed to divide custody equally with her having the two kids while I'm at work and vice-versa. In your opinion, what would be a fair setelment based on what the courts would determine? Also she does have free access to her fathers rental home nearby, and has threatened me with ''common law marriage''.

You need to have the amount of child support calculated using state approved computer software which takes into consideration the income of both parents and the time share of the parenting plan. This calculation is available through my website among other internet locations.

It is always a good idea to consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

You will find some valuable information on child support and various family law issues at my web site.

for one, the state of california does not recognize common law marriage, unless it originated in a state that does recognize such. so her threat there, based on your facts so far, is without merit. secondly, the courts typically use a dissomaster format in calculating child support. if you would like further legal assistance in this matter, feel free to email me directly.
