Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

I had a child when I met and married my now ex husband. The biological father was not in the picture and my husband wanted to adopt my child. Due to financial costs we were unable to complete the adoption. He gave her his name and up until he was ordered to pay child support after the divorce, considered her to be his daughter. Now that he has been ordered to pay for her and our two other children he wants to fight this. I don't want it to upset her, so I am willing to have her removed from the order. If I do that, will the income they use for me be reduced since I have a child that I am solely responsible for supporting?

Re: Child Support

You would receive a hardship deduction. This will reduce the loss of child support.

Contact the local district attorney's office and request help in collecting from her father. There is no charge for their services.
