Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child support paid in cash, no receipts

I have a daughter who is now 25. When my ex-wife and I split, our agreement in writing was that I pay a certain amount in child support. I work in construction and get paid in cash. I paid my ex-wife as obligated, but paid her in cash and did not get receipts. Now she has brought proceedings against me in court saying I never paid a dime, with the result that: 1) My driver's license has been revoked, and 2) A judgement has been made against me that I can't afford to pay even part of. I am semi-retired due to a work-related injury and can barely afford my own needs. Can anything be done about this?

Yes. She is suing for arrears, and we can oppose it. There are various avenues to go depending on the specific facts. Feel free to contact my office for an initial FREE consultation. Please leave me a voice-mail as I am in court tomorrow a.m.

sounds like you had your day in court--which resulted in a judgment. there is little that can be done now if you went to court and gave the judge your side of the story. if you think the judge made an error you might be able to appeal the order.
