Can I ask for child support if the other parent has half custody?

Yes. Child support is intended to equalize the funds available to raise the child in each home. So custodial time is only one factor in determining support. Only if both parents incomes and tax situations were nearly the same, would 50/50 custody result in no support. Otherwise, in a 50/50 custody, the higher income parent would pay some amount of support to the lower earning parent.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. You may want to visit a family law facilitator at a courthouse near you and have a dissomaster calculation done.
