Child support, payee hardship

I have two children by a long time companion; we were never married. The court has garnished my wages for $197.00 a month. I make $450 a month and work only part-time. I can no longer pay my rent. Is this the correct amount I should be paying. She makes $20,000 a year. I made $3000 last year. We have no agreement verbaly or written on child custody. She told me to leave and I did. I felt I didn't have the resources to provide for the children at the time and they stayed with her. They are 4 and 6 years of age. I see them every other weekend. I looked up the formula for figuring child support, but couildn't figure it out. would someoone please advise me.

Based upon the information you provided, guideline child support is $69, plus a contribution to her daycare expense, up to one-half. Perhaps the court imputed income to you? After all, you are making less than half of what you could earn at minimum wage, in a pretty great economy.
