Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child support payments
I am paying court ordered child support in Sacramento California for a child who will turn 19 on Feb 5, 2007, however, the child is set to graduate on February 28. I consulted the Sacramento Superior Court home page and read the child support shall cease once the child is 19 or graduates from High School. I called Sac County child support and to see if the payment I just made for January is the last one and was informed that because the they do not pro-rate child support, I will have to pay for the entire month even though the child turns 19 on February 5. FYI, the original court order was dated on Feburary 4 years ago and the county did collect for the entire month. Anyone know if I am out of luck or do I have a course of action? I do not believe and order to show cause is the approach. Any help is very much appreciated.

Re: Child support payments
I believe that the support is due for the entire month. Even if this were not the case the cheapest way out for you is to just make the February payment. To avoid making this payment would require you to go to court which will cost more than the child support payment.
