Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child support for pregnant 17 year old

My husband has just found out that his 17 year old daughter is pregnant. she is currently a senior in high school, however, it is probable that she will drop out due to the pregnancy.

1. Is a father obligated to support a pregnant minor?

2. If she chooses to drop out of school does his obligation end on her 18th birthday?

3.what if she intends to return to high school?

Re: Child support for pregnant 17 year old

His obligations are defined by the child support order. He is required to do nothing more, nor nothing less than with a specified in the order. If he feels that circumstances have changed in such a way that modification of the order would be justified, he needs to go into court and ask for the modification.
