Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support protection

My ex-girlfriend have a child together and I have agreed to pay her $350.00 dollars a month for child support. This agreement is a verbal agreement and the only proof I have that she receives the money is through my bank statements.

My question is should I get this agreement in writing to protect myself? If so, what legal forms should I use. I'm not wealthy and money is an issue. Is this legal matter something any paralegal can handle or do I need to get my self an attorney

Re: child support protection

It is very important to get the agreement in writing. Some paralegals are good and some are not. If you want visitation rights too, that should be in writing. Just $50 per month difference in support adds up to $600 per year.
