Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

My question is if I don't pay child support now then do I have to make-up these payments after the child turns 18?

Will these payments that I'm not making now be considered owed? Or do they go away when the child turns 18?

Re: Child Support

Is there a child support order? Child support isn't payable until there is a court action. If there has been no public assistance, support cannot be ordered to any date before the court action is filed, if there has been public assistance, it goes back to 1-year before it was filed.

If there is a court order that you are not paying, it accrues interest at 10%, you can incur additional significant penalties, it is nondischargeable in banktrupcy and never expires until paid. It will follow you forever.

But don't you want to provide for our child?
