Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support Reduction?

I receive child support for my 2 yr old, and recently the court awarded me ½ of childcare cost that I requested. Turns out the child support amount went up. While at this hearing, the child support attorney represented me.

Shortly after I received a Notice of Related Case, (served by mail) mentioning child support, representing the father of my 2 yr old.

What can happen In a case like this, besides the support being reduced, should I hire an attorney, or allow the child support attorney represent me as she did at this last hearing. The Dept. of Child Support office was also served. Father lives in NC, mother lives in CA, he’s retained an attorney in CA. Thank you for answering my question.

Re: Child Support Reduction?

I don't think the child support attorney represented you. That attorney is representing the interests of the child, basically. Or actually, the County of Orange. You should hire your own attorney to represent your interests.
