Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support redution

Ineed to find out what I can do to go about having my child support reduced. My exhusband has decided to have my child support payment be detached from my weekley wages. I am paying 50% of my weekley income. I do not understand how this is possible when he makes $80,000 & up, and I make 27,000 a year. I have had no mean for an attorny and he has taken full advantage of this. I need help!

Re: Child Support redution

child support is based on a few different factors. the main factors are timeshare and income. if you are current with your child support, and not paying arrears, then your payments should be far less than 50% of your net. obviously i would need more information about your particular situation to help. it is better to retain counsel and get a correct order than to continue to overpay. you will not get reimbursements for overpayments. you can file an osc to modify child support. if you do, and your support is reduced, the courts could it apply retroactively to the day you filed the osc. otherwise, you will never get those overpayments back. if you want more information about these issues you may visit my website at www.pcl-law.com
