Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support

I am a single father. I have my daughter most the time...I take my daughter to her mother in the mornings befor i go to work, and pick my daughter up after work. I have had my daughter every weekend ecept last weekend for the last couple of months..I give the mother money and also pay for her cell phone. Should i be responsible to pay more child support when i have my daughter pretty much all the time?

Re: child support

Time share is only one of the factors to determine child support. I would need more information to give you a specific answer.

Re: child support

The short answer is it depends on many factors which you have not mentioned. CA uses a guideline child support calculation based primarily on your income, her income, and the percentage of time with the noncustodial parent. She could end up owing you money each month. There are also other factors used in the calculation.

The most important thing you should remember is child support is only considered to be money paid via check or money order. Cash or payments for such things as her cell phone are "gifts" and are not considered child support.
