Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child Support
If there is Wage assignment for child support and the child is turning 18 which completes the obligation, the employer says we need a wage assignment modification to stop it? Is this true, I thought just the original order stating when it ends was enough? Can I just go to court and file one or does an attorney need to file it? Is it filed with the original order? Please help....if the wages are continued garnished I will never get the money back because the other parent will not stop it.

The correct way to do this is to have an amended wage assignment reducing the child support to zero signed by the court and served on the employer.
Good luck to you!
