Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

My wife is having difficulty getting her ex-husband's new employer to comply with the original court order to garnish his wages for child support. They insist that they will not accept anything that does not come directly from the court addressed to them. The court clerk said they never do that, the original is good enough. What can she do to get compliance with the order?

Re: Child Support

The order should be served by you by certified mail. You might include a cover letter that tells the employer (1) there is no requirement for service "directly from the court" and (2) to read the back of the order which will inform them that they are personally responsible for any wages not deducted and sent to your wife and that you will be more than happy to go after them if they fail.
