Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child support

Will I have to provide child support to my spouse even if the child is not mine after we get divorced? The child is from a previous relationship of hers. We have been married for 1 year but were together for 4 years before we got married.

Reply: Child support

In a general sense, you may not have to be obligated to pay child support for a child that is not yours. That having been said, of the child thinks you are the biological father, then you may not be able to deny paternity.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
