Child support for 18 yearold still in High school

If you have a son or daughter still in high school are you still obligated to pay child support for that child if it is not court ordered?

Re: Child support for 18 yearold still in High school

The law says that you are required to support children who are full time high school students until they graduate or turn 19. So it doesn't necessarily stop at 18, and if the child has "special needs," (some disability) it could even be longer. However, unless there is a welfare reimbursement, a court cannot order support prior to a date when the court action is filed, so whatever is or isn't paid prior to that is water under the bridge.
