Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support after 18 years of age

I would like to know if California law would allow me to go back to court and request that my ex husband contiues to pay child support after my daughter reaches 18 years of age. She will be attending college.

Thank You!

Family court won't help, however, has he ever promised to pay for college expenses? An attempt to get voluntary help or a possible prommissory estoppel action may be an avenue. Please call me directly at (619) 222-3504.

Re: Child Support after 18 years of age

The courts jurisdiction terminates at age 18 unless the child is still in High School child in that case support will continue until the child is out of High School or reaches age 19. The court does not have jurisdiction to order child support beyond those limits. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
