Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

My youngest child was just diagnosed with Leukemia. Is there any way to get the support payments reduced even if we had a review only a year ago? Is there an emergency or special case review? If so how much would it cost to have a lawyer submit these papers as we live in New York and the case is in California? Can I file myself? What is the procedure?

Any time there is a "change in circumstances" support can be modified, it doesn't matter whether you have recently changed it before or not. With the Leukemia diagnosis, you are now apparently expecting increased medical costs. That is a factor that the Court must consider in doing the child support calculation.
