Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support

My 17 yr old son pregnated a 17 yr old girl. She has decided to keep the baby without our consent. She is blackmailing my son w/ if he doesnt start paying attention to her she is going to make him pay through the nose. He does not have a job. Are we, the parents, responsible for any child support payments until my son starts a job? What are our legal rights? Im not sure how to legally handle this. Should we seek an attorney? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: child support

Your son will have to pay child support regardless of what he does or does not do. He should follow her pregnancy and request a dna test for paternity and if he is the father then pursue visitation. He will be responsible for paying child support. He may be allowed to pay a reduced child support while going to school. You as his parent are not responsible for his child support.
