Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child Support
My child is almost 19 yrs. old. Is away from home at school. My paychecks are still being deducted for child support. There is no end date on the court order. My ex-wife is not someone i can deal with easily. Is there someway i can have the child support stopped without dealing with my ex-wife and spending a fortune on legal fees? My support payment does not go through the distrct attorneys office.

You need to go back to the Court asking that the support be terminated because the child has reached majority!!
Re: Child Support
There is no way to stop the support without dealing with your ex. You should file a motion to terminate the support and order you ex to repay the amount overpaid. That should get some quick action from her. Depending on the wage assignment order given to your employer she may be able to terminate the support deductions by writing a letter to your payroll office. You should check to see if the court that issued the order has a facilitators office that will help you prepare the motion. I charge $250 to prepare a motion for you to appear in pro per, any court in the state of california. This is a slam dunk and does not really need a legal hot shot, based on the facts that you have given me, I think you can do it on your own. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
