Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support/Childcare in CA

My ex has been trying to intimidate me about how much he WON'T pay for our soon to be son (I am 7 months pregnant). He has threatened me w/ the statement that he will raise our son himself before he pays a certain amount (approx. $1,000). I am a 1st time mom and unsure of how to go about asking for help, esp. w/ childcare. He does not work a regular 9-5 job; he's self-employed and can receive up to $60,000 in 1 week from real estate investments. I was laid off on the 13th of Dec. and am now on public assistance. He has not provided anything so far for me and the baby, and for awhile I was homeless (sleeping in various motels, a shelter, and a car). I am currently staying with his parents. Please tell me there is something I can do!

I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this...

Re: Child Support/Childcare in CA

Try to get him to admit in an email or text message that he has threatened to take your child rather than pay child support. Be very careful with this type of man. While on the one hand you don't want to let him intimidate you, on the other hand it is this type of man who will go in to court and lie in order to get custody in order to avoid paying child support. However, if you get an attorney to help you from the beginning, a good strong aggressive attorney, you can turn the case around from the start and make it so that he can never do this in the future.
