Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support/Father Rights

I did not know I fathered a child 13 years ago, It was a one night stand I never heard from her again. I don't even remember her. The courts contacted me for child support recently, We did the DNA testing, and I am the father. After 13 years they want money. Is there any law against that, what about sueing her for never telling me I was a father until now. Now I have to pay the $500.00 a month and she dosn't heven work. They are on welfare. Can I sue her? or not have to pay the child support?

Re: Child Support/Father Rights

Child support is the right of the child, not the parent. Your obligation is to the child so the actions of the mother will not be a defense to your obligation to the child. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
