Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child visitation - No formal order in place yet
My S/O has a 7 year old daughter by a woman he was never married to. Dad moved out of state shortly after the birth and when return to his hometown would try to make arrangements to see his daughter. Mom would not allow it. A few months after daughter turned 5 and dad had moved back to town, she allowed him to meet her. Visitation was days only to start, then transitioned into every other weekend arrangement. Mom has increasingly been interfering with visitation and flat out refusing to let her see her dad again. We're in the process of filing for formal visitation orders, but what can we do in the mean time. It's apparent mom is trying to discourage the daughter from coming over and constantly telling her about all the fun things she'll miss out on if she goes with dad. Things have gotten worse since we served her with papers on child support issues, alleging fraud and adjusting for time spent with dad and current earnings. I'm terribly concerned for the child, her mothers putting her through hell, destroying the relationship with her dad because she's not getting things done her way. What options do we have until we get a court date and have visitation orders in place?

Re: Child visitation - No formal order in place yet
You need to encourage your friend to visit and make every effort to visit with his child. If his efforts are refused you should document those and bring them to the hearing.
Good luck,
