Legal Question in Family Law in California
child writing legal last name
my son's last name is ordered to be legally known as (ex.) Smith Brown. but my son only wants to write Smith and the bio dad is having a fit. do i have to make him write both names all the time? all forms (school, medical) are filled out with both. so he is KNOWN as both. but how extensive is that order? for ex. cards, invitations, daily paperwork?
also, is there an age when the child can choose what name he wants without one parents consent?

Re: child writing legal last name
He is legally Smith Brown. So when you write it out, write it that way. What you son does is something you have little control over. I wouldn't lose any sleep if I were you.
