Legal Question in Family Law in California
children in foster care what are my rights
My kids are in a foster home. i'm working to reunify with them. i do not want my children placed with paternal grandmother or maternal great grandmother. the social worker is thinking of separating and placing them there. Do i have the right to ask for a physcological exam of maternal great-grandmother? The paternal grandmother's husband is an alcoholic. How and what rights do i have in protecting my children from being placed there?

NOW, IN RESPONSE TO YOUR INQUIRY --
Juvenile Dependency matters are very "tricky" even if reunification has been ordered. Remember, no matter what he or she says, the social worker is NOT "your friend." The outcome often depends as much on relationships, credibility, and familiarity with the system, as it does on the facts and law of the case. You need to hire a lawyer to help you NOW. At this stage of the proceeding his/her retainer should be relatively reasonable.

You have the right to request a psychological exam if you have the money to pay for it.
