Legal Question in Family Law in California

Children refuse court ordered custody

I am divorsed. My kids, 15 & 16 yrs old, do not want to stay at my house (there is a court order 50/50) because their mom attends Jehova's witnesses church and is constantly taking my sons with her to mettings and trips. I am in good standing with my children and we have no other problems but this. It has been 7 years already and the children's main reason for not living with me is because of the church and they do not want to miss the mettings. My question is, what rights do I have in this situation? If the children and their mother refuse to follow the court order, what are my options?

Re: Children refuse court ordered custody

You might want to seek legal custody to prevent them from attending those meeting, especially since they interfere with your visitation.

That would be better than bring contemp charges against your kids.
