Legal Question in Family Law in California

childrens money

I need to know my rights when it comes to money that was put in an education fund for my 2 children from a golf tournament that was held in their fathers name after his death 12 yrs. ago. At the time I asked my in-laws to take care of it because I trusted them and my father in law was in banking.Recently I asked them if I could see a statement from the acct.and was told that I have no rights to it and they will decide what is done with it. I never thought they would betray my trust this way but now I need to know how I can fix this. One of my children will be 18 in a month and I need to know what rights she has to the money also.

Re: childrens money

Your rights to the bank statement would depend upon the terms of the education fund, the age of the children and probably other factors. You should contact an attorney regarding this matter. Bring all documents which you have in your possession.
