Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child's name changed w/out notifying Dad

My husband's ex girlfriend had their daughter's last name changed with out notifying my husband. She left all information about him off of the petition, including name, address, etc. She did this two weeks after visitation and joint legal custody was granted to my husband. We didn't find out about the name change until 1 1/2 years later, when his daughter started attending school. Is there any way to have his daughter's last name returned to what she was given at birth?

It appears the child's mother may have given false or at least, not truthful information to the court to change the name or not even discussed this with the court. I believe you need to retain counsel to address this issue. So much more needed to investigate. 800-685-6950

Your husband will need a court order to obtain the relief that he is seeking.

I suggest that he consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
