Legal Question in Family Law in California
I want to get my childs fathers rights terminated. He has not seen the child in 5 years, never paid child support and we have a long term restraining order that was issued sue to him pleading guilty to felony DV & child abuse. He has 3 other children that he owes child support on and has not been involved with them either. I have never petitioned the court for child support and there is no custody order in place. The child is under 10, but very mature and wants to change their last name. I am engaged to be married and have moved outside of California when the child was born and the father resides. How do I go about doing this?
