Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am the coach of a 13 year old boy who plays for my Little League baseball team. The mother and father are asking to modify the terms of joint custody. Whenever the mother has the boy, he is always at practices and games. Whenever the father has the boy he is never brought to practices or games. The boy loves baseball and has told me that he wishes his dad would bring him but he always finds something else for them to do. The team misses him when he is absent and does not understand.

The mother has asked if I would write a letter to the judge stating this so that the father can not have more custody or the custody can be modified in a way the boy can play baseball more.

Can you help me write such a letter?

I would suggest not getting involved in that situation. Mom can request the court to order a psychologist to determine what is in the best interests of the child, which would be given much more weight than a letter from you, so it really isn't worth it. Why take on that hostility when you aren't even being paid?
