Legal Question in Family Law in California

What does this mean?

I know this code has something to do with spousal abuse, but what are the details. PC273.5A. If the two pleole never lived together, than can it still be affective in court?

This code section PC 273.5(a) apply to individuals who are married, were married, cohabited together are covered by that statute. However, there is a code section that applies to parents of a child, have had a dating relationship. There is also a section that covers individuals in the workplace etc.
