The first and easiest step is to file an abstract of support judgment with the county recorder in the county in which he resides. You can also get a wage assignment if he is employed. That doesn't work well when he is unemployed. If he owns real estate, you can foreclose on that real estate. It is also possible to get a writ of execution and execute against personal property or a bank account. Bottom line is that you will probably need a family law attorney who is experienced in collections. Finally, if he is hard core not paying and has no assets to execute against you can ask the Department of Child Support Service to enforce the order. They are slower, but much cheaper than a private attorney. They can also suspend a drivers license or any state issued license, which a private attorney cannot do.
