Mr. McCoys answer is incorrect, child support orders do not need to be renewed. If you were ever on AFDC some of the back child support may be owed to the county, but a large share is owed to you. Contact a family law attorney and he can help you collect the money. You should be able to get a wage assignment and start receiving the money within a few weeks. He may also have some other suggestions concering collection actions. Does he own real estate, have a vehicle with substantial equity? Do you know where he banks? Good Luck, Pat McCrary

I would need more information. Did you evder obtain public assistance? In which case, the County is entitled to receive thier cut of support arrears first. Did you renew the 1980 judgment after 10 years? If not, You may be out of luck unless you got another order within the last ten years. Had you renewed the judgment you would be entitled to a cornicoopia of cash--you'd be rich. Otherwise, you are entitled to 0. But just think of the money you saved by not hiring an attorney.
