Collection of court ordered child support

My ex-husband avoids paying court-ordered child support. He may be joint-tenant in the ownership of his condominium (with new wife), but i am not sure. How can i go about receiving his tax refunds from the state for delinquent child support? Is it possible to receive refunds if he files joint returns with his wife?

Re: Collection of court ordered child support

Your first step is to file an abstract of support judgment in the county that the condo is situated. The only agency that can attach the tax records is through the district attorney child support division, hoever, they are not very agressive otherwise. They can take his drivers license and any other license issued by the State. You didn't say whether there was currently an order for child support. You may consider having him cited for contempt of court, but you will need your own attorney for that. If he is employed, a wage assignment from the court is automatic. Get a consultation with an attorney before talking to the district attorney. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
