Common Law Marriage

How long does a couple live together to constitute a legal marriage.If the couple moves to another state such as california does that anull the marriage if any.

Re: Common Law Marriage

CA does not have common law marriage. We will recognize, however, a common law marriage valid in some other jurisdiction. The requirements vary from state to state. Texas, for example, requires (I think) 10 years, as well as other criteria.

If the common law marriage was valid in Texas (or Vietnam), we'll treat it as valid here.
