Legal Question in Family Law in California

Compelling Visitation

My 14.5-year-old son does not want to spend much time with his dad (my ex). He resists going to visit, cuts visits short, and cancels times he's supposed to visit, prompting my ex to yell at me. Do I have to force my son to go? How often? We have ''joint custody,'' both legal and physical (I claim them on taxes), and the 8-year-old doesn't mind going to his Dad's house as much. Is almost-15 old enough to have some say in how much time he spends where?

Thank you for your time and advice.

Re: Compelling Visitation

If you have a court order re child visitation, honor it. You may be influencing your child. Make sure you do not give your ex a reason to address this with the court.
