Legal Question in Family Law in California

Concerned Grandparent

Hello, I am a mother of a 17 year old daughter. My child is the mother of a 1 and a half month old son. She got pregnant at 16 years old by an 18 year old. Last month, my daughter came home with bruises on her face. She confessed to me that this young man was indeed abusing her and had laid his hands on her while pregnant. He has stated that he wants to visit the child by himself, but my daughter and I do not feel comfortable with that. When he came to my house to ''Bond'' with his child, he got drunk and passed out on more than one occasion. Am I wrong for going about it this way? He and his family called my house disrespecting me and my family. The names were degrading and hurtful. I have my daughters best interest at heart. My daughter does not want to go to court because she says this is too stressful. I understand where she is coming from, but I am concerned about my grandchild's well being. This young man is disrespectful, arrogant, ignorant, conniving, vindictive and very rude. I am not trying to keep him from his child, but he has to understand that he messed up. I do not owe him anything. He has everything to prove to me. I am at my wits end please tell me what is the next step? Have a blessed day.

Re: Concerned Grandparent

You will probably need to go to court. File an Order to Show Cause for custody and ask for monitored visitation to the father, if any. You need to get an order from the court to govern this person's behavior.
