Legal Question in Family Law in California

confused about D.V. protective order?
my husband and i have been seperated for 3 yrs. we have 3 children together and i also have a son. for the past 2 yrs. my children have lived in vegas with me and whenever they would go on track break from school i would drive them to ca. to thier dads, buy them enough food to last the 3 weeks they would be there and then pick them up when needed. it had been about 10 mo. since they saw thier dad and his cousin came to pick them up in july for the summer. once they got them in ca. they wouldnt give me the address to where they were, and enrolled them in school when it came time. since i asked the kids if they wanted to stay i didnt make a big deal of it. this last weekend i was planning on going to visit them because they seem so different on the phone becacuse they cant say anything since people are around them listening. (my daughter recently told me she wants to come home, 7yr.) my car had some problems so i wasnt able to make it out there and found out on sat. that my husband filed a protective order against me and he left a message on my answering machine telling me my court date. i was arrested last yr. for awdw. but released due to d.a. denial. and he is telling me this is why they granted him the order. is this legal?
