Legal Question in Family Law in California

Conservatorship (I think)

My friend/roommate is a hard drinking alcoholic. His parents would like to get some leagl power over him so that he can be forced to get help. He is temporarly with out licence, but he is known to drink a lot and then drive around. His last car had dents all over that he could not remember where he got them. He is not temporarly without licence, but he still poses a danger, he walks into traffic, he get abusive, he blacks out, he has been arreseted a lot, due to alcohol related incedents, all his parents want to do is to make him get help, with a court ordered rehab, psychiatric facility or anything, before he kills himself or someone else. They can not afford a treatment facility. Is there any action they can take.

Re: Conservatorship (I think)

if he cannot care for himself, then his parents should petition to become his conservators. this sounds similar to the Britney Spears case.
