im consitering divorce, but i make more than my husband because he uses every excuse not to have a steady job among other things. how does the alimoney thing work in california?

Spousal support is a right belonging to both spouses. The determination of support is gender neutral. Support awarded before a final judgment is generally based on the gross incomes of the parties. Post judgment support and its length is based on 5 factors: length of the marriage, age of the parties, health history, earning capacity and standard of living during the marriage.
