Legal Question in Family Law in California
My ex contact me and informed me that I am the father of her 10 year girl. CA courts has her ex husband paying child support for a while now. The child and the father both dont know the truth but the mother wants to tell the daugther the truth soon. What I am asking if the truth comes out, do I have to pay back child support for the child or does child support only gets hit once the DNA test comes out that the child is mine? Or will the ex-husband still have to pay? I want to be part of her life but I dont want to be hit with 50K worth of support. Should I just keep this a secret?
