Legal Question in Family Law in California
Contempt of Court Against Ex
I have a court order that outlines what my ex and I are responsible to do when it comes to each other and our minor child. We are both responsible to provide no less then month updated on the child. These updates must include but are not limited to a few areas, school, social behavior, health, development, life changes, etc. My ex has consistently needed reminded to follow through with this requirement. Lately I have decided that I should not have to remind the ex to do what is best for the child, so I no longer remind her. Once there was a six-month gap in updates, I worked these through letters to the exs lawyers. Once again, the updates have stopped, is this grounds for a contempt of court filing, and what would a contempt charge really mean?

Re: Contempt of Court Against Ex
It may be enough depending upon the circumstances, the court is reluctant to find contempt as it carries criminal penaltes. If it is the court that has prevent you from being more involved in your child's life by not allowing you access to the source of the information that was to provided, then a contempt charge against your spouse may alleviate that situation.
