Legal Question in Family Law in California

A couple months back I filed a petition to modify alimony. I lost my job but am now employed at a salary which is much less than before. I don't have the emotional horsepower to deal with my ex's attorney nor the court. What do I need to do to "drop" my request to modify?

If no response has been filed, you may take your motion off calendar. If a response has been filed, you may need to request that opposing counsel agree to take the matter off calendar and enter into a stipulation to keep the orders as they are.

Contact the court and opposing counsel and take the motion/ OSC off calendar.

If you are very close to the actual hearing date and you have no written confirmation that the other attorney agrees to take the case off calendar, then you might have to appear to be sure the case goes away. I know of cases where the moving party thought the matter was dropped and the other side appears and gets revised court orders on issues raised in the moving papers.
