Legal Question in Family Law in California

Court order

Hello, I'm going through a

custody/divorce. Today we went to

court and my ex-husband asked the

Judge to make the orders ''Stay''. What

does that mean?. Thank you so much.

Re: Court order

Apparently you aren't represented by an attorney. Go back to the court and go to the clerk's office and ask for a "minute order" from yesterday's hearing (it may be someplace else in the courthouse you obtain one but at least the clerk will tell you). That hopefully will tell you what happened.

I can think of 2 contexts in which that word might have been meant: 1. He's not represented and meant "stay in place," that is, have the orders been ongoing; or 2. A "stay" means a freeze, nothing happens pending something else, like there is a condition that must be met before the next step can occur.
