Legal Question in Family Law in California

court records unsealed

How can I get my own court records (divorce judgement) unsealed? This is the first step in getting a QDRO for child suppport arrears. The case was sealed because it was a surrogate mother situation, and custody battles were being dealt with. Now my daughter is 13. My ex owes me over $30,000.00 in back child support and I need a copy of the original divorce decree to get the ball rolling for a QDRO. I have to do it myself because I can't afford it any other way.

Re: court records unsealed

Usually parties to a case can gain access the to file by going to the court clerk's office and showing identification. If that is not the case here you will have to take all of the information about the case you can to an attorney for a consultation.
