Legal Question in Family Law in California
Can the Court reduce my alimony once I'm working
I am a 47 year old woman. I was married for 17 years and 7 months. I've had a few part time jobs, but never pursued a career because we moved a lot. My husband is a physician with a very high income. My plan is to become a paralegal. I know that the starting pay is around $30,000-$40,000 per year. My alimony is @$9,000 per month. Can the Court reduce my alimony or eliminate it completely and what about maintaining the marital standard of living?

Alimony is determined by your need and his ability to pay. Any income you earn will be considered in determining your need. The family standard of living is considered in determining your need. You should consult with an attorney. As a general rule you will be required to seek education and or training to become employable.
