Legal Question in Family Law in California

court settlement

I was represented in a case last year and the settlement that was agreed upon has not been fulfilled.

My lawyer wont' return my calls, and his firm took 40% of my inheritance, so they've been paid, but my brother still has not complied. I really feel my law firm should continue to represent me until this matter is settled. Am I right? Is there any other avenue I should explore? Thanks!

Re: court settlement

It appears that you entered into a contingency fee agreement with the attorney. Most fee agreements provide for a per cent of the amount collected, and not the total judgment. Check your fee agreement regarding the terms of the fee agreement, If it provides for a payment of a percent of the amount collected, send a letter to the law office and tell them that you want them to collect the remainder of the money asap or pay you 60 percent of the money they have collected.
